Indigo Offers
with HP A Glimpse of Future Digital Photofinishing
Technology Delivering High-quality, High-speed
Printing and Low Cost Per Print to Central
Photofinishing Labs |
February
24, 2002 -- Indigo N.V. -- (NASDAQ: INDG)
today announced it will be demonstrating with
Hewlett-Packard Company the technology to
be employed in future end-to-end digital photofinishing
solutions developed together by the two companies.
The digital photofinishing exhibit will be
on display at the joint Indigo and HP booth
(#948) at the Photo Marketing Association
Trade Show in Orlando, Fla., Feb. 24-27, 2002.
The exhibit will feature two high-speed photo
printer concepts - the Photo-e-Print MetroLab
and Photo-e-Print ProLab - which employ Indigo's
proprietary ElectroInk technology.
"It is expected that more than 70 billion
photos will be processed digitally by 2006,
clearly indicating that the photofinishing
industry needs a high-performance, cost-effective
alternative to conventional, chemical-based
processing," said Yishai Amir, vice president
of marketing, Indigo Photofinishing. "Indigo's
photo printing technology will combine high-margin,
high-value digital printing, meeting tomorrow's
most demanding quality and speed requirements.
Additionally, it will enable digital print
providers to increase throughput, lower operating
costs and provide new revenue growth opportunities."
The Photo-e-Print MetroLab was developed with
high-volume photofinishing labs in mind, demonstrating
5,440 six-color, automatically-cut and collated
4x6-inch (10x15-cm) prints per hour. The Photo-e-Print
ProLab is aimed at professional labs, demonstrating
680 12x17-inch (30x 43-cm) prints per hour.
Both high-speed photo printer concepts feature
Indigo's unique liquid Electrolnk technology,
which produces extremely high-quality, high-speed
printing and low cost per print without using
chemical-based processing. Electrolnk also
gives Indigo prints outstanding archival properties.
The glossy images are highly durable and water-insensitive,
capable of being handled without leaving permanent
fingerprints.
"Indigo will become a vital part of HP's
digital imaging strategy for high-volume photofinishing
applications," said Gary Cutler, general
manager, HP's Digital Imaging organization.
"HP's industry-leading expertise in digital
imaging and printing, IT, and e-services,
plus a worldwide service and support infrastructure,
coupled with Indigo's digital printing expertise,
uniquely positions HP to transition conventional
photofinishing to an efficient digital business."
"Everything that can become digital will
become digital. As certain as digital cameras
will replace film cameras, digital photofinishing
will replace conventional photofinishing,"
stated Benny Landa, Indigo's chairman and
CEO. "Today, HP is the market leader
in consumer and office digital printing and
Indigo is the digital printing leader in the
commercial printing sector. Together, we believe
that we can transform and lead the photofinishing
industry as it races into the digital era."
In September 2001, the two companies announced
that HP would acquire Indigo. The acquisition
is expected to be consummated in March 2002.

Indigo Unveils Industry's
Highest Speed Digital Minilab at PMA |
|
Contacts |
Compact "MetroLab" offers wholesale lab speeds
with minilab floorspace |
Orlando, Florida
-- February 12, 2001 -- Indigo N.V. (NASDAQ:INDG),
the leader in digital color printing systems,
today announced the launch of the Photo-e-Print
MetroLab, a versatile and powerful digital
photo printer, at PMA 2001, the Photo Marketing
Association's Annual Convention and Trade
Show, held in Orlando, Florida, February 11-14.
This latest addition to Indigo's Photo-e-Print
family of photographic quality digital printers
has been designed to meet the needs of higher
volume retail on-site production facilities.
It offers the speed and productivity of a
central photofinishing lab while occupying
barely more floorspace than a minilab.
Yishai Amir, Photo-e-Print vice president
of marketing, comments, 'The MetroLab is a
breakthrough product that opens the door to
high volume on-site retail production of the
highest quality digital photographic prints.
It offers the benefits of all-digital workflow,
format flexibility and extremely high throughput
- up to 5,440 six color 4"x6" prints per hour
- delivering them cut, stacked and collated.
And all of this at a lower cost-per-print
than conventional minilabs.'
The MetroLab can easily switch, not only from
one print size to another, but also from gloss
to matte - without changing paper. Using Indigo's
proprietary ElectroInk-on-paper process, which
is pigment based, the color prints produced
on Photo-e-Print printers are brilliant, vibrant
and sharp - with outstanding archival properties.
Moreover, the blacks are blacker and whites
are whiter than conventional photographic
prints. And since they are water-insensitive,
prints can be handled without leaving permanent
fingerprints. Using a silver-free process
that requires no chemical disposal, Photo-e-Print
printers are an environmentally friendly alternative
to conventional photographic processes.
All Indigo Photo-e-Print printers can receive
images from any digital source, including
digital cameras and scanned film, as well,
of course, the Internet. At PMA, Indigo will
be demonstrating such high throughput digital
printing - live - from on-site digital photo
studios, as well as from film scanners and
digital image banks.
In addition to the MetroLab, Indigo's live
PMA demonstrations will feature the Photo-e-Print
ProLab, for professional and retail laboratories,
the Photo-e-Print 5K, for central wholesale
labs, and the Indigo TurboStream, for specialty
production of double-sided photo printing
applications such as digital photo albums.

Indigo Unveils Industry's
Most Powerful Digital Photofinishing Products
At PMA |
|
Contacts |
Orlando, Florida
-- February 12, 2001 -- Indigo N.V. (NASDAQ:
INDG), the leader in digital color printing
systems, is launching the photo industry's
broadest and most powerful range of digital
photofinishing products at PMA 2001, the Photo
Marketing Association's Annual Convention
and Trade Show, held in Orlando, Florida,
February 11-14. The Photo-e-Print family of
photographic quality digital printers use
Indigo's proprietary ElectroInk process, offering
extremely high quality, high speed and low
cost per print to the photofinishing market.
The Photo-e-Print range includes products
for retail and professional photographic labs
as well as centralized wholesale photofinishing
operations.
Indigo Chairman and CEO, Benny Landa, states,
'The photo industry is in the midst of a rapid
transition - to digital technology - driven
by the widespread use of digital photography
and the Internet. The market now needs a high
performance cost effective digital photofinishing
alternative to existing conventional technology.
That's where Photo-e-Print comes in. It combines
high margin, high value digital printing with
the quality and speed requirements of today's
photofinishing industry. The color prints
are brilliant, sharp, glossy and vibrant,
and can be uniquely personalized and printed
in real time. That also makes the Photo-e-Print
ideally suited for Internet-based photofinishing
applications.'
At PMA, Indigo will be demonstrating, live,
its Photo-e-Print ProLab, Photo-e-Print MetroLab
and Photo-e-Print 5K digital printers. Visitors
to the Indigo digital photo studio will be
able to walk away with glossy professional-looking
portraits - taking just moments from flash
to print. In addition, the Indigo TurboStream,
which prints on both sides of the paper, will
be demonstrating the live production of digital
photo albums and photographic greeting cards
- particularly hot Internet applications.
The Photo-e-Print 5K and MetroLab will also
be demonstrating high speed scanned-film-to-digital-print
capabilities, driven by Digital Now's Digital
Photo Factory.
The Photo-e-Print ProLab, aimed at professional
labs, can produce 680 12"x17" (30x 43cm) prints
per hour, while the Photo-e-Print MetroLab,
designed for higher volume retail on-site
production facilities and large mini-labs,
delivers 5,440 six-color, automatically cut
and collated 4"x6" (10x15cm) prints per hour.
For wholesale and central finishing labs,
the Photo-e-Print 5K is a roll-fed six color
digital printer, offering four different print
sizes with electronic print collation and
slit roll output. The Photo-e-Print 5K delivers
over 5,000 six color 4"x6" prints per hour.
Since Indigo's ElectroInk is pigment-based,
prints produced on the Photo-e-Print models
have outstanding archival properties. The
glossy images are water-insensitive, so they
can be handled without leaving permanent fingerprints.
The Photo-e-Print uses a silver-free process
that requires no chemical disposal.
In addition to the three Photo-e-Print models
debuted at PMA, the range also includes the
Photo-e-Print 10K, which produces rolls of
4"x6" digital prints at a rate of 10,000 per
hour, and the Photo-e-Print 20K, which, at
over 20,000 4"x6" digital prints per hour,
is by far the industry's highest speed digital
photo printer.
Mr. Landa concludes: "Everything that can
become digital will become digital. As certainly
as digital cameras will replace film cameras,
digital photo printing will replace conventional
photo printing. Today Indigo is the leader
in digital color printing for the commercial
printing market. Now, with the introduction
of this incredibly powerful line of Photo-e-Print
products, we hope to make an important contribution
to the photofinishing industry as well, as
it races into the digital era."
